Repair process

Battery repairs are our passion. Just like efficient repair processing.

In rare cases, cell replacement may cause the BMS (electronics) to shut down. In this case, we will not charge any costs. However, Medimobility GmbH is not liable for any damage caused by such a shutdown.

Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese and nickel, and are recycled.

We will be happy to dispose of your rechargeable battery free of charge, or you can return it free of charge to a location in your immediate vicinity (e.g. a retailer or municipal collection point). Return to retail outlets is limited to quantities that are typical for end users and to old batteries that the distributor carries or has carried in its range as new batteries.

Do not place the charger directly on, next to or under combustible materials. Stone floors/garages, for example, are well suited for charging. The room should also be equipped with a smoke detector. Furthermore, the battery should not be charged overnight in living areas.

FAQ

Questions often arise when repairing batteries!

No, the power output of your e-bike remains unchanged. With the increase in capacity, your battery has more power and the range is increased. However, with older batteries, the internal resistance increases and you will experience an increase in performance thanks to the new cells.

Yes, you can continue to use your old charger without any problems. However, you will need to allow for a longer charging time for batteries with a higher capacity.

Especially for BIONX, the display must first “learn” the new battery capacity after the conversion. To do this, you must completely drain the battery once or twice (until the motor stops).
Even if the display shows that the battery is empty, it is far from being so. The display on the bicycle may flash or show that the battery is empty, but it is not yet empty and the display must first adjust to the new, greatly increased capacity. Then charge the battery completely and run it down again.

The display should then recognise the new battery capacity and show the battery consumption correctly.

Simple indicators and standard displays base their display on the battery voltage and immediately show the correct remaining capacity. Regardless of the method, with this procedure you can assume that the battery indicator on the display will show the new battery correctly, including, for example, the remaining range.

This will be disposed of for you in a professional and environmentally friendly manner at our premises. We are partners of the GRS recycling initiative in Germany. Batteries are professionally and safely packed in special bins here at our premises, collected separately by a shipping company and sent for recycling. See also: http://www.grs-batterien.de

For all purchases of goods and services, you will receive an invoice from us showing the VAT.

Please note that despite our many years of experience and expertise, minor damage to the plastic casing may occur when opening the battery in individual cases. This can occur in particular if the casing is glued and not screwed together. However, this does not affect the function of the battery itself. We seal every battery after repair to provide the best possible protection against water. As the battery must be opened for repair, we cannot guarantee absolute water resistance after repair. Please also refer to our terms and conditions.

For reasons of quality and safety, we only use cylindrical brand-name cells from Samsung, Sony or Panasonic for repairs.

If your battery was originally equipped with different cells, the discharge curve may behave differently after repair than you were used to in the past. This manifests itself in the individual LEDs of your battery’s “charge level indicator” no longer displaying the discharge evenly. The display may behave as follows:

– The first LEDs go out after only a few kilometres.

– The LEDs do not go out evenly after the kilometres travelled.

– The battery is empty, even though some LEDs are still lit.

– All LEDs are off, but the battery is not yet completely discharged .

Shipping instructions

Your battery should arrive safely with us for repair!

Source: UPS, Safe Packaging and Shipping of Batteries

  • Do not use envelopes or other soft mailing bags; use shock-resistant outer packaging instead.
  • The batteries must be securely padded and packaged to prevent the end caps from slipping or loosening during transport.
  • Any short circuit or activation of the lithium batteries in the shipment during transport must be avoided.
  • Ensure that no battery can come into contact with another battery, conductive surfaces or metal objects during transport.
  • Each battery should be packed (individually) in a hermetic inner packaging made of non-conductive material (e.g. plastic bags).
  • Ensure that exposed terminals or connections are protected with non-conductive caps, non-conductive tape, or other suitable means.
  • Ensure that no small parts such as paper scraps or polystyrene can get into the battery, for example in the fan slots.
  • Ensure that the battery has no external damage that could cause liquids to leak, for example.
  • Also pack your charger. However, we do not need your charger for Bosch and VanMoof batteries.
  • You can optionally enclose the completed order form or your order number. However, this is not mandatory.
  • Note: The battery is a lithium-ion battery. Special transport regulations apply to this type of battery, which are subject to the ADR (dangerous goods on the road). Please observe the instructions and requirements of your shipping partner!
